Person with generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP)
“There are times when it feels like somebody is stabbing me with lots of knives over and over again; it feels like my skin has been ripped off, that it’s falling off with no protection.”
Not only does the unpredictable nature of GPP make it challenging to control,
but severe symptoms of flares such as pustules and pain, along with comorbidities,
may affect a patient’s quality of
life.1-6
Flares can extend for months and may become life-threatening if left
untreated.4,7,8
Experiences with GPP are not universal and vary by person.
Designer
“Christine uses knives as a metaphor when describing a GPP flare. This ultimate fear is right there for anybody to see.”
With this piece, Bart Hess challenged himself to draw inspiration from one of humanity’s greatest fears: death. To do this,
he created a piece composed of knives and razors that represent how generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) can threaten the wearer's
life.1,2
